AWARD CATEGORIES

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD

The Community Impact Award recognizes an organization for participation in outreach to the greater community beyond the organization's own walls. It honors a commitment by volunteers, leadership, and staff to meet community needs. 

Eligibility: Any not-for-profit member facility of LeadingAge Indiana

Criteria: The nominee...

  • Demonstrates social responsibility through the creation of or participation in a program/effort that has had a positive influence on the local community.
  • Met a community need through their action(s), demonstrating their role as a contributing member to their local community. 

 

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an individual or group of volunteers within a member community whose commitment and dedication enhance the quality of life for seniors and their communities. 

Eligibility: Any individual resident or organized group of residents from a not-for-profit LeadingAge Indiana member facility.

Criteria: The nominee...

  • Demonstrates exceptional commitment to older adults through volunteer service.
  • Provides contributions that enhance and enrich the quality of life of seniors, and positively impacts the member facility.
  • Promotes the mission and goals of the organization they serve. 

 

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

The Community Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an individual or group of volunteers from outside of the member community whose commitment and dedication enhance the quality of life for seniors and their communities. 

Eligibility: Any person or group that volunteers at a not-for-profit LeadingAge Indiana member facility but is not a resident. 

Criteria: The nominee...

  • Demonstrates exceptional commitment to older adults through volunteer service.
  • Enhances and enriches the quality of life of seniors, and positively impacts the member facility.
  • Promotes the mission and goals of the organization they serve.

 

EMERGING LEADER AWARD

The Emerging Leader Award recognizes an employee in the early or mid-stage of her/his career who has demonstrated aptitude for and commitment to professional growth as a leader. 

Eligibility: Any employee of a not-for-profit LeadingAge Indiana member facility who has worked in the field of long-term care for less than 3 years. 

Criteria: The nominee...

  • Demonstrates potential and/or aspiration for enlarging her/his leadership role within the member facility.
  • Routinely goes above and beyond what is expected.
  • Demonstrates a steadfast commitment to the member facility's mission.
  • Contributes to the improvement of the workplace and the quality of life for residents, demonstrating outstanding promise for continuing service and leadership.

 

EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP AWARD

The Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates leadership within their team that significantly enhances the workplace and the quality of life for residents. 

Eligibility: Any employee of a not-for-profit LeadingAge Indiana member facility who supervises one or more employees. 

Criteria: The nominee...

  • Has a history of exceptional leadership, sharing her/his knowledge and experience for the purpose of motivating others to higher levels of performance.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Has a willingness to go above and beyond to improve the workplace for employees and the quality of life for residents.
  • Fosters growth and change within her/his organization. 

 

THE LINDA WOOLLEY EXCELLENCE IN NURSING LEADERSHIP AWARD

The Linda Woolley Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award is given in honor and memory of Linda Woolley - a dedicated nurse for 34 years who worked diligently in her service to long-term care and touched the lives of many as a dedicated leader and mentor to nursing staff. This award recognizes a nursing professional who demonstrates excellent leadership and mentoring relationships, supporting and encouraging others to strive for excellence in their service and care for residents. 

Eligibility: Any licensed nurse working in management at a not-for-profit LeadingAge Indiana member facility who has clinical experience and leadership in long-term care nursing, and a commitment to the profession. 

Criteria: The nurse...

  • Exhibits a genuine commitment to the nursing profession through efforts to assess systems and improve care provided to the residents.
  • Builds self-confidence in staff by having high expectations and setting clear standards.
  • Sets the example when coaching and mentoring.
  • Has contributed to the facility's ability to provide exemplary care and services to its residents through her/his presence and hard work. 
  • Has developed relationships with employees where there are shared goals, shared knowledge, and mutual respect.
